What the calculator works out
- Wall size — panels across × panel width, panels down × panel height, in feet, inches and metres, with the diagonal and active area.
- Resolution — each panel is its width ÷ pixel pitch pixels wide (or the matrix from the datasheet); the wall is panels across × panel pixels.
- Weight — panels × weight per panel.
- Power and heat — total watts and amps, the breaker circuits needed and the heat load. See the LED wall power calculator for how each figure is worked out.
- Data — pixels per output port, ports needed and the cable route. See the LED wall data calculator.
Worked example
The calculator opens on 10 × 6 panels of 500 × 500 mm at P2.6, 180 W max and 7.5 kg each:
- Size: 5.00 × 3.00 m (16.40 × 9.84 ft), 161 sq ft.
- Resolution: 192 × 192 px per panel → 1,920 × 1,152 px for the wall.
- Weight: 60 × 7.5 kg = 450 kg (992 lb).
- Power: 11 kW max, 90 A at 120 V, on 6 × 20 A circuits.
- Data: 17 panels per port → 4 output ports.
Sizing by feet or meters
If you know the space rather than the panel count, switch Wall size to Feet or Meters and type the width and height you have. The calculator rounds to the nearest whole panel in each direction and reports the size the wall will actually be.
Using your own panel specs
Every input is typed in: panel size, pixel pitch, pixel matrix, max and average watts, weight, supply voltage, breaker size and port capacity. Clear a field and the value it falls back to is shown in grey. Pixels per panel are worked out from size ÷ pitch until you enter the datasheet figure.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate LED wall resolution?
Divide the panel’s width and height in millimetres by the pixel pitch to get its pixels, then multiply by the number of panels across and down. 500 × 500 mm panels at 2.6 mm pitch are 192 × 192 px each, so 10 × 6 of them make a 1,920 × 1,152 px wall.
How many LED panels do I need for my wall?
Divide the wall width by the panel width and the wall height by the panel height, and round to whole panels. A 16 ft (4,877 mm) wide wall of 500 mm panels is 9.75 panels, so 10 across. Switch Wall size to Feet or Meters and the calculator picks the nearest fit and shows the real finished size.
Is an LED panel the same as a cabinet?
In practice, yes. The cabinet is the framed unit that bolts into the wall and holds one or more LED modules; datasheets list its outer size, pixel matrix, power and weight. Use those cabinet figures here.
What pixel pitch do I need?
A common rule of thumb puts the closest comfortable viewing distance in metres at about the pixel pitch in millimetres — P2.6 is about 2.6 m (8.5 ft). Many integrators plan the main seating at two to three times that distance.
Is the weight the full install weight?
No — it is the panels only. Add the frame or mounting system, ground support, processors and cabling when you size the structure.
Does the calculator save my wall?
Every value lives in the page address, so copy the link to share or bookmark a wall. Nothing you type is sent to or stored on our servers.
